Tramp Shipping Corporation v Greenwich Marine Inc. (The New Horizon) [1975] 2 Lloyd’s Rep. 314. per Lord Denning M.R. at p. 317:

I think a strike is a concerted stoppage of work by men done with a view to improving their wages or conditions, or giving vent to a grievance or making a protest about something or other, or supporting or sympathising with other workmen in such endeavour. It is distinct from a stoppage which is brought about by an external event such as a bomb scare or by apprehension of danger.
