Jury Point

Per Staughton, J. in Empresa Cubana Importada de Alimentos ‘Alimport’ v Iasmos Shipping Co SA, (The Good Friend) [1984] 2 Lloyd’s Rep 586 at p.591:

This seems to me to be what is sometimes called a jury point, i.e., one that had no logically persuasive force but might influence a tribunal which is not too much concerned with logic. Use of the phrase is scarcely a compliment to juries. For my part I do not attribute any weight at all to this argument.
