Chain of Causation

There are many ways of defining the kind of event which might break the chain of causation.  One of the best known is that stated by Lord Wright in The Oropesa [1943] AC 32 at 39:

To break the chain of causation it must be shown that there is something which I will call ultroneous, something unwarrantable, a new cause which disturbs the sequence of events, something which can be described as either unreasounreasonableraneous or extrinsic.
